Croft Hill. Leicestershire. 20.9.13
A beautiful morning with Blue sky and a bit of warmth in the sun it looked an ideal opportunity for a walk, especially after the cold and wet snap we have just had. Batteries charged in the Camera as well as my own off I set. My first encounter was the chattering of feeding Swallows all building up there energy levels for their flight home.
Two Jays were also having a noisy encounter in the trees and the distant mew of the Buzzards on the other side of the Quarry and all too distant for my Camera. Around the ponds were Brown Hawker, Migrant hawker and Common Darters.Darters carrying their mates to lay their eggs in the surface of the pond.
A Green Woodpecker flew over me as did a flock of meadow Pipits.
Then four Buzzards flew in not as close as I would have liked but just enough for a few shots. They put on a fantastic aerial display high above my head.
The Hedgerows seem full of Berries this year, does this mean mother nature is preparing for a hard winter ?? Who knows.
