Who remembers Steve Corica ?  Leicester City Midfielder.

Steve Corica

Steve Corica

Born in Cairns Australia March 24 1973.

An Australian with Italian Ancestry  which allowed him to come to England to play his Football.

In the summer of 1995 he came to Leicester on trial during our Pre Season tour of Germany.

One Mr Mark ( yes I promise I’m staying at Leicester and not going to Wolves ) McGhee spotted him playing for Hannover and managed to get him to LCFC.He played a total of 18 games and scored twice.

His Debut went to plan scoring a great goal against Sunderland.  But during the season he broke his ankle against Port Vale. But Mr McGoo sorry McGhee kept his faith in the lad and Paid a whopping £1.1 million for him and took him to Wolves.

But his bad luck followed him there and at the end of 1996/97 season he ruptured a crucial ligament whilst wearing the colours of McGoo’s  Wolves, ironically, at the same venue Port Vale. After much hard work he was thought fit for the next season but disaster struck again and he had to have the operation repeated.

He spent 10-years in England with Leicester City, Wolves and Walsall, as well a brief stint in Japan with Sanfrecce Hiroshima. He finally bowed out at in 2010 at the age of 36 playing at Sidney fc.
